Videoconference: Experiences of the use of ESCO in companies and the elaboration of occupational profiles
On 29 September, a new event was held in the framework of the ILO/Cinterfor - SENA 2023 agreement, aimed at analysing the applicability of the ESCO tool in the field of human resources management, the definition of competence profiles in different sectors and productive areas, as well as to analyse whether these profiles can be standardised and serve as inputs for the competence standards developed by the countries of the region through their vocational training institutions.
ESCO is the multilingual European classification of skills, competences, qualifications and occupations that functions as a dictionary that identifies, describes, classifies and relates all these elements to improve the functioning of the European Union labour market.
The activity was coordinated by Fernando Vargas, ILO/Cinterfor specialist, who presented the ESCO tool as a reference for the development of competences and training at regional level, reflecting on how we can take advantage of this developed experience, how the region can join in the process of digital portability of profiles and how we can continue to share what and how we are working on these issues in our countries.
The workshop was supported by Jaime López Cocio, expert consultant in employment and training policy, who articulated together with the presentations of Ignacio Fernández Zurita, Human Resources Director at Héroux Devtek (Getafe) who shared the experience of the "Analysis of functions and competencies at Héroux Devtek" and José Ignacio Alonso, Human Resources Director at Celsa Steel Service Nordic on the "Development of professional profiles and competencies at Celsa Group".
This virtual workshop is a continuation of the one held in June on more conceptual and descriptive issues of the ESCO model.
