Workshop on "project-based learning" seeks to promote innovation in vocational education.

The Foundation of the Construction Workers' Union of the Argentine Republic (UOCRA), with the support of ILO/Cinterfor, carried out a very important event in Buenos Aires from March 13th to 15th. This gathering was organized within the framework of the Collaborative Innovation Project (CIP): "Project-Based Training" (PBT), developed by ILO/Cinterfor and led by specialist Rodrigo Filgueira. Its aim is to promote methodological innovation in professional training and the strengthening and improvement of existing regional models through South-South Cooperation (SSC).

The main objective of the project is to promote the development of project-based training in Latin America and the Caribbean. To achieve this, several goals have been established, including the documentation of at least three PBT models in the Southern Cone, Central America, and the Andean Region. In addition, transfer and collective construction activities will be carried out through a face-to-face workshop and a virtual course on PBT. Pilot applications of PBT will also be developed in selected institutions, including the creation of guides and work models per institution. Finally, a community of practice in this field will be established.

The meeting in Buenos Aires was a great success, bringing together experts and professionals in the field of vocational training from across the region, along with over 15 institutions from the Cinterfor network. Extensive discussions were held on the importance of project-based training, emphasizing the need to continue working on its development and dissemination throughout the region.

The group of participating institutions expressed their commitment to continue working together in the implementation of the project and in promoting PBT as a key tool for the development of skills and competencies in the professional sphere.
