In the framework of the actions coordinated with the SENATIC Programme of Colombia, a videoconference was held on 3 December to explore the importance of transversal competencies in the current and future work environment, and the need to address them in a comprehensive manner.

The panel was composed of Rodrigo Filgueira, an ILO/Cinterfor specialist, and Carmen Chude, a consultant specialising in the subject, who first presented the relevance and need to think about transversal competencies and the challenges for their development. They also put forward a methodological proposal for developing transversal competencies, and shared the progress made by Cinterfor in developing a toolbox to support the development of transversal competencies.
