Videoconference 15/06: Digitalization, productivity and vocational training
On Wednesday 15 June 2022, ILO/Cinterfor held a videoconference on the phenomenon of digitalization, its impact on vocational training and its effects on productivity.
The meeting featured Gabriel Burdin, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Leeds; Juan Bogliaccini, Professor of Political Science and Director of Postgraduate Studies at the Catholic University of Uruguay; and Merten Sievers, Global Coordinator for Value Chain Development and Enterprise Training, ILO Small and Medium Enterprises Unit in Geneva.
The videoconference addressed the context in which digitalization operates in Latin America, looking through macroeconomic data at the challenges facing the region to achieve inclusive processes of productivity improvements and insertion in the global digital economy. At the same time, evidence was presented of the various public policies that are being implemented to enhance and democratise this process; and finally, a synthesis was made that brought together the central points of the presentations and discussed under the perspective of the ILO's work.
This activity was facilitated by Rodrigo Filgueira, specialist in Digitalization and Vocational Training Specialist of ILO/Cinterfor.
