Today, an international technical workshop on Prospective for Employment and Professional Training in Green Sectors or in the "Greening" Process began in the city of Durazno, Uruguay.

The two-day activity (March 14 and 15) is part of the Collaborative Innovation Program developed by ILO/Cinterfor together with Brazil's National Service for Industrial Apprenticeship (SENAI). The program aims to have participating national teams develop a prospective study of employment and professional training in green sectors or those in the process of "green transition", in order to anticipate changes in professional profiles and demands for new occupations, as well as to generate recommendations for professional training and actions that allow for the acceleration of green transition in selected sectors.

Teams from Chile, including representatives from SENCE, CHILEVALORA, and the Ministry of Labor; Uruguay, including representatives from UTEC, INEFOP, and the Ministry of Labor; and the Dominican Republic, represented by a team from INFOTEP, are participating in this process. For the program, each team has selected an area to conduct the study, with Chile working on green hydrogen technology, Uruguay on electric mobility, and the Dominican Republic on photovoltaic energy.

This workshop, made possible with the support of the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) and the South-South Cooperation Department PARDEV of ILO, seeks to strengthen the identity and network work of the teams to advance in the presentation of sectoral studies and deepen the stages of technological and organizational prospective.

In the afternoon, the workshop was inaugurated at an event attended by prominent figures such as Carmelo Vidalín, Mayor of Durazno; Daniel Pérez, National Director of Employment at MTSS; Pablo Darscht, Director of INEFOP; Rodolfo Silveira, Counselor of UTEC; Anita Amorin, Director of the Emerging Cooperation Unit, PARDEV, ILO; and Anne C Posthuma, Director of ILO/Cinterfor. Then, a visit to the Regional Technological Institute of UTEC was made, where the group of participants had the opportunity to learn about the facilities and proposals developed by UTEC, accompanied by the management team and teachers of the institute.

On March 15, activities will continue, including team work and practical proposals for the next phases of this process, which is expected to culminate in July.
