The first preparatory meetings for the next ILO/Cinterfor Technical Committee Meeting (TCM) were held from 8 to 10 April 2024, marking an important milestone in a process that will culminate in the 47th ILO/Cinterfor TCM in 2025 with Chile as host country. This meeting, the most significant in the field of vocational training for the region, serves as a critical forum for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices.

The initial meetings were attended by authorities and technical teams from the Chilean Undersecretariat of Labour, the National Training and Employment Service (SENCE), ChileValora and ILO/Cinterfor. The Undersecretary of Labour, Giorgio Boccardo; the head of the International Relations Unit, Marcelo Tapia; the head of the Employment Policies Division, Fidel Bennet and the Chief of Cabinet of Minister Jeannette Jara, Pablo Chacón together with the Director of the ILO Office for the Southern Cone, Fabio Bertranou in a meeting with the Director of ILO/Cinterfor, Elena Montobbio. Also the national director of SENCE, Romanina Morales and the executive secretary of ChileValora, Ximena Rivillo, received Elena Montobbio to consolidate the agreement and move forward.

These meetings have been instrumental in laying the groundwork for what promises to be an outstanding event, aligning efforts and outlining the first steps towards its realisation. The ILO/Cinterfor RCT stands out for its global reach and its ability to bring together a wide range of key actors in the field of vocational training. More than 60 institutions involved in training for work, at national, local and sectoral level, as well as representatives of the workers' sector, the employers' sector and governments, will meet at this event. Its aim is not only to discuss current and future challenges in vocational training, but also to establish a dialogue that will contribute to the development of effective policies and strategies to respond to the needs of the labour market and society.

The 47th edition of the RCT, to be held in Chile in 2025, is presented as a unique opportunity to strengthen horizontal, international and regional cooperation in vocational education and training.
