In the framework of the INADEH Comprehensive Transformation Project in 2024, component on Quality and relevance of the educational offer, the ILO/Cinterfor started last March the technical assistance actions for the academic component of the INADEH Comprehensive Transformation and Improvement Plan.

Workshops were held on the certification of competencies and experiences, together with experts, technicians and enterprises in Panama. A session of the Sectoral Skills Council of the agro-industry was also organised to define the profiles most in demand according to the sectoral characterisation study carried out.

In addition, work began with the team in charge of carrying out the certification process for the refrigeration sector. The standard selected for certification in the following months will be "Good practices in refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems". The certification of competences is a tool that will allow the recognition of the learning of the workers regardless of the place where they were acquired, providing greater tools to strengthen the labour insertion and to continue their training. The workshop was attended by instructors who were trained in the role of evaluators of the process and the team of the Regional Centres involved.

It was an experience that provided learning to strengthen capacities in the framework of the certification actions to be developed by INADEH after consultations with different sectors.  The opportunity was used to move forward with the planning of the whole process and the agreement to continue the training in a face-to-face meeting in April at a Regional Training Centre.
