The digitalization of the economy and society is producing other forms of work organisation in addition to the use of new technologies and a higher degree of automation. The associated demands for skilled workers are changing and have an impact on the development of work organisation and qualifications in the company. This makes it necessary to constantly adapt existing vocational education and training programmes and the further training regulations that are coordinated with them. Competences for dealing with digital media are gaining in importance. Curricula must be adapted to this and training staff in companies and vocational schools must receive additional training.

In this videoconference, which took place on 19 October 2023, experts from Brazil, Mexico and Germany shared their experiences in order to reflect on new curricula, profiles, competencies, the didactic challenges of new technologies in different sectors, the role of teachers and trainers in companies and educational institutions.

Experiences were presented by:

  • Rodrigo Filgueira, Digitalization and Vocational Training Specialist of ILO/Cinterfor
  • Kelly Lima Teixeira, from the Management of Educational Programmes and Guidelines of SENAC, Brazil
  • Luis Hernandez Santana, Corporate Director of Applied Technologies, CONALEP, Mexico
  • Carlos Rebellón, Director of Government Affairs for Spanish-speaking countries and Canada, Intel Corporation
  • Jens Hofmann, Saxon Society of Education for Environmental Protection and Chemical Professions Dresden mbH (SBG), Germany
  • Hans-Juergen Lindemann from Germany
