Cinterfor visits Central America

From 27 June to 30 June 2022, the Director of ILO/Cinterfor, Anne C. Posthuma, and the person responsible for programming, Fernando Casanova, visited three countries and member institutions of the Cinterfor network, with the aim of strengthening ties, agreeing on cooperation and learning about experiences and innovations that are being developed.

The week began with activities at INSAFORP in El Salvador, where exchange and coordination meetings were held with Ricardo Montenegro, president of the Institute. Among the main agreements of the meeting, it was agreed to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation by leveraging available resources, including technical expertise, professional skills, technology and innovation.

It also included a tour of two training centres to visualise the impact of training on youth under INSAFORP's dual training programme, Empresa Centro, which has established itself as the best training strategy for first jobs.

Afterwards, Posthuma and Casanova continued their tour by visiting the INTECAP team in Guatemala, where they shared a tour of the Villa Nueva Training Centre, the Guatemala 1 Centre and the ICT Centre. They took the opportunity to talk with the staff of the Training of Trainers School and some of the unit heads. In the afternoon of 29 June, the Cinterfor delegation participated in a Board meeting to address the challenges and priorities to move forward through cooperation.

On Thursday 30 June, the official visit to INA in Costa Rica took place. There, meetings were held with the team of business development and management of training and technological services, with the aim of knowing and deepening on the innovations that are being developed. Likewise, they had the opportunity to exchange with the Executive President, Mr. Juan Alfaro Lopez about the institutional priorities and the support of Cinterfor. At the end of the day there was a tour of the INA building.
