Occupational classifications are essential as elements to facilitate the analysis of supply and demand in the labour market. But they are also the basis for bringing the world of work and the world of qualifications closer together. In the move towards a National Qualifications System, the National Qualifications Framework and the National Classification are two fundamental tools.

In this regard, the Brazilian Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the National Guide to Qualifications in Brazil, which is presented in an innovative format and as a true guide to occupations, with updated information, characteristics and main indicators of 2,609 occupations in the Brazilian labour market.

The Guide provides a special look at the skills and behaviours required of workers and the characteristics of each occupation in the formal salaried labour market. This online tool is also intended to serve as a support to vocational guidance services for individuals.
