Information and communications technology - ICT

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the development of training strategies that use ICT to deliver their content to people is one of the more successful strategies in broadening the coverage and quality of training. Particularly, ICT-based training implies advantages with regard to coverage, curricular, spatial and temporal flexibility, lower cost and access to substantive information from qualified sources.

“Expanding access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) is another crucial challenge in the era of the knowledge economy. The use of ICTs is, therefore, fundamental to the development of sustainable enterprises and must be fully utilized in this regard”.*

Training in ICTs (learning to use the technologies) and ICT-based training (developing other competencies flexibly and conveniently) are two aspects that people and enterprises should bear in mind if they wish to be successful, and to which vocational training institutions should respond in a relevant manner.
