Objetivos: 

To accredit skills and evaluate labour competencies in order to certify agricultural day workers and, therefore, improve their employability and foster continuous training.

Población objetivo: 

Agricultural female and male day workers that are working on vegetable harvesting in an agricultural enterprise.

Descripción: 

The STPS made a strategic and operational planning of the project and promoted it among agricultural enterprises which provide employment to agricultural day workers in the North East of the country.

An agreement was entered into by INCA Rural in order to carry out training workshops and evaluations so as to promote certification since they work as a certifying body and certificates are handled by CONOCER.

CONOCER issues the certificates to the day workers who were evaluated and qualified as competent.

  • Having a "Vegetable Harvesting" Technical Standard for Labour Competency; which is a formal instrument to certify agricultural competencies, valid at a national level and designed for agricultural day workers of the country.
  • Highly qualified and experienced agricultural day workers.
  • It offers benefits for agricultural enterprises since they can count on qualified work force which creates an added value to their exports and local products.
  • Good relationship between INCA Rural and the STPS.
Evaluación: 

Day workers have proved their labour skills through training workshops and evaluations for certification which have fostered the project continuity and acceptance among agricultural enterprises. However, it is important to involve all three levels of the Government in terms of awareness, funding and follow-up of the project.

Resultados: 
  • Design of a training methodology and teaching resources including a manual for day workers and a video on vegetable harvesting.
  • 973 day workers have been certified and 1,617 who have already been evaluated and qualified as competent are under the certification process.
  • Employment opportunities in national and international agricultural enterprises.
