Objetivos:

Contribute to the development of the maintenance of school infrastructure, with an inclusive, dynamic and efficient proposal in order to integrate young people into the world of work and their values.

Población objetivo:

Young people aged from 18 to 24 years, unemployed, resident in the Province of Buenos Aires and beneficiaries from the program Young people with More and Better Work.

Descripción:

It was developed in two stages:

  • The first one provided basic and specific training, applied to the following construction processes:  masonry, iron, concrete, painting, laying tiles, electrical, gas installations, plumbing and dry construction.  It was developed with a workload of 240 hours, distributed at the rate of 20 hours per week, in the space of three months.
  • The second one contemplated qualifying work experience in construction.  They were carried out at education institutions with the same teacher of the previous stage, in his new role of tutor/project supervisor.  Participants should put into practice skills acquired in different work situations.  The practices were developed with a workload of 240 hours, distributed at the rate of 20 per week, within a period of three months.

In both stages participants were encouraged to apply the standards of health and safety of the activity, in terms of their personal safety and that of other team members.

Young people who have prior certified work experience were assessed, and labor skills developed in their participation in the program were certified. In the event additional training was necessary, they were referred to the corresponding course.

Factores clave:
  • Calls made together with municipalities, employment offices and section offices of UOCRA.
  • Coordinate with the General Direction of Culture and Education to choose the training institutions where the work is to be performed, and for the timely provision of equipment and supplies.
  • Together with the participating institutions define a procedure for implementing actions.
  • Link young people with educational spaces, for the generation of inclusive schools. Three pillars articulate: education, work and production, bringing the community closer to the institutions.
Evaluación:

Experience showed that the proposal has been beneficial to students who have been involved in the school again, because they develop their tasks there, while bringing their knowledge and leaving an improvement as result of their work.

Initial assessments were conducted by teachers, who noted in participants great enthusiasm and commitment to the institutions they attend, that are close to their homes, and where in some cases, their children attend.

The programme can be replicated with the consensus of all actors involved and in any other context whenever it suits the situation and culture of each place.

Resultados:
  • 180 young people qualified in 5 courses/works that were developed in the municipalities of San Nicolas, Berazategui and Moreno (Buenos Aires Province).
  • Increase training offer provided to young people.
  • Certification of graduates, issued by the Institute of Statistics and Registration of the Construction Industry (IERIC), which provides access to recorded employment.
  • Recovery of school spaces in all dimensions.
