Pernambucan Programme to combat violence against children and adolescents - PPEVES. SENAC-PE. Brazil
Social inclusion of young people in vulnerable situations, adopt a policy to promote sustainable tourism and protect children and adolescents from sexual exploitation in tourism.
Young people aged 16 to 26, from vulnerable sectors.
The programme was designed by the WCF-Brazil Institute with funds from the Ministry of Tourism aimed to the social inclusion of 240 young people in cities of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Ipojuca, Olinda and Recife.
Educational activities ranged from the classroom experience, of theoretical and practical aspects of the qualification to be developed by adolescents and youngsters, as well as experiences in extracurricular activities, such as visits to hotels, hostels and participation in events and tours. In four municipalities, classes intended to introduce students to the Tourism Trade were held.
The training prepared professionals in the following areas: cafeteria attendant, kitchen assistant, bartender, waitress, busboys (assistant waiter) and managers of small hotels and hostels.
- To ensure the quality of training WCF Institute partnered with SENAC-PE.
- The personal change starts from motivation.
- The social incentive is only one of the variables for this change.
- The promotion of sustainable tourism and protection of children and adolescents from sexual exploitation in tourism, improves the employability and productivity.
In 2009, 74% of trained was inserted in the labor market. In 2010, 80%.
It represents a concrete alternative for changing life of these young people, but it is not the only solution.
In 2009, 193 young people were trained. In 2010, 300.
